Look out, look out, Jack Frost is about! But please don't worry, Brunnera macrophylla Jack Frost will not be nipping at your fingers and toes. This woodland wonder will astound you with large, attractive, heart-shaped leaves, each one with a fascinatingly intricate pattern Dainty sprays of starry, clear blue, forget-me-not-like, funnel-shaped blooms sparkle in spring, followed by dense carpets of attractive, hairy, weed-suppressing groundcover foliage that spreads by rhizome and is evergreen in warmer areas. Also known by the common name Bugloss, which in Greek means ox tongue, which probably refers to the shape and roughness of the leaves, Brunnera Jack Frost has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Deer and rabbit resistant, Brunnera Jack Frost is avoided by slugs or snails, perfect for your borders and containers. Although Brunnera, thrive in shade, they will also welcome morning sunshine, the patterned foliage performing best in light shade.
