Description

A popular and classic variety of blueberry for a high yield of pale blue fruits early in the summer. Self-pollinating but it will produce many more berries if it is grown along with other varieties such as Duke, Bluecrop or Aurora. These berries are packed with vitamins and antioxidants which has made them even more popular in recent years. Easy to grow in patio containers or in the border, providing acidic soil for the best results. Add in some ericaceous compost to ensure a bumper crop of fruits. Dark green foliage provides a brilliant backdrop to small white flowers that are swiftly followed by clusters of berries which ripen for picking during June. Great added to breakfasts, enjoyed in smoothies, making into jam or on desserts. A great beginner gardener choice and fun for a gardening activity for children. Hardy perennial. Provide berries with protective netting from cheeky birds.

How hardy are your plants?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
