What a spring classic, Aubretia Double Pink creates an extravagant spring display, heralding the arrival of spring. Every spring, double, ruffled pink blooms with a bright yellow eye almost smother the evergreen, oval-shaped, slightly hairy, groundcover foliage until early summer. Aubretia Double Pink is perfect creeping across a path, tumbling down from the top of a wall or spilling over the edge of a planter, attracting bees to your garden. Also known as Rock Cress, possibly for the popularity of growing them within rock gardens. Surprisingly, an alpine member of the Brassica family and named after Claude Aubriet, a French botanical artist and flower illustrator, Aubretia originate from southern Europe and central Asia where they grow wild in poor rocky ground, they are now a firm favourite in many British gardens. Aubretia are low maintenance and really easy to grow, preferring dry, well-drained soil in sun or part shade reaching a height of 15cm and spreading to around 40-50cm, they are fully hardy perennials that will be enjoyed for years, growing outside with no protection required over winter.
