Description

Astrantia Snow Star is a favourite with florists for both fresh and dried arrangements. The sparkling blooms look paper-like; you will find you just have to touch them to check if they are real. Stiff, white, ruff-like bracts with green tips surround a central cluster of tiny white flowers. Looking rather like a pincushion, hence the common name Hattie's Pincushion. The blooms are held atop upright, branching stems from May until September, often longer. Terrific to add colour to those difficult, shady spots in the garden, even in moist ground near water, where our pollinating friends will visit for a feast. Slug resistant, Astrantia Snow Star prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in part shade and tolerates some sun. Growing to a height of 80cm and spreading to 60cm. Astrantia are fully hardy perennials which can be left outside all year round to be enjoyed for years to come with no winter protection required.
