A must have for any autumn garden, Aster novae-angliae Helen Picton is breath-taking. An award winner with large, rich purple-violet flowers that light up the garden when many other perennials have faded, from late summer well into the autumn. Aster are also know as the Michaelmas Daisy, a relative of the wild daisy. With a rich tapestry of breath-taking colours, they are a must have for any autumn garden. Aster novae-angliae Helen Picton has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. The Picton Garden, at the foot of the Malvern Hills holds the Plant Heritage National Collection of over 430 Aster varieties. Named from the ancient Greek, Aster means star, they will shine and light up your borders and containers with very little maintenance, they are so easy to grow but much loved by our pollinating friends, the bees and butterflies who will visit to take advantage of the nectar-rich feast on offer. A traditional and popular favourite of florists, Aster make excellent cut flowers for your home too. Easy to grow Aster are unfussy on soil conditions in sun or part shade and fully hardy, so winter cold does not bother them at all. Aster novae-angliae Helen Picton matures to a height of approximately 70cm and spread of 40cm.

How hardy are your plants?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.

We offer plants in a range of formats so what you receive varies from plant to plant. The images below show what you will receive for each format.

We deliver to all of our customers within the UK including the Highlands and Islands for just £4.95 per order.

Your order will be confirmed by email and each item ordered will have an individual delivery date. Your items will arrive before the dates given unless Mother Nature lends a hand by providing unseasonable weather. On these rare occasions we would update you by email.

Items may be sent together, individually or a mix of the two depending on the individual delivery dates and our final quality inspection.
