Sprays of dainty white daisy-like blooms are produced in profusion, lighting up your garden in late summer and well into the autumn. Aster pilosum var pringlei Monte Cassino is a must have for your autumn garden, giving you armfuls of cut flowers for your home too. A distant relative of the wild daisy, Aster are also known as the Michaelmas Daisy. The Picton Garden, at the foot of the Malvern Hills holds the Plant Heritage National Collection of over 430 Aster varieties. Named from the ancient Greek, Aster means star, they will shine and light up your borders and containers with very little maintenance, they are so easy to grow but much loved by our pollinating friends, the bees and butterflies who will visit to take advantage of the nectar-rich feast on offer. Easy to grow and rabbit resistant, Aster are unfussy on soil conditions in sun or part shade and fully hardy, so winter cold does not bother them at all. Aster pilosum var pringlei Monte Cassino matures to a height of approximately 80cm and spread of 40-60cm.
