Description

There has been a clear trend over recent years for gardeners to grow more of their own food. The popularity of one crop has increased exponentially alongside this trend. This crop is asparagus and there are three reasons for this. Firstly, growing asparagus takes little space which mean you do not even need a garden to take part. Secondly, asparagus is very expensive in the shops so growing your own makes sense. Thirdly, are the health benefits. Asparagus contains Vitamins A, C, K, Fibre and Folate. It potentially benefits, weight loss, digestion, and lowers blood pressure. This collection contains three of the best Asparagus for home growing. You receive Asparagus Burgundine - an asparagus with less stringy material in the stalk which you can eat raw, Asparagus Guelph Eclipse - high yielding, early cropping, bred to survive the Canadian winter so is particularly hardy and robust, and Asparagus Guelph Equinox - a new asparagus which is commonly regarded as 'setting new performance and uniformity levels for green asparagus. Steamed asparagus with a knob of melted butter straight from your garden. Will you ever taste any better asparagus?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
