Description

This special Duo includes gigas and pachycarpa. The first originates from Korea and the second from Portugal. They are both deciduous biennials which should be planted out during spring in moist well drained soil in a shady, sheltered position in the middle or back of a border. Great for wildlife and pollinators they are drought tolerant plants with can also be used as a cut flower. Gigas will grow to 1.8m tall with a spread of 1.2m and has deep rich purple blooms carried aloft from glossy, green ternate leaves in August-September. Pachycarpa is slightly smaller at 1.2m high with a spread of 90cm and has green/white flowers in May-July. Both have stunning architectural interest and, although they will flower in their second year and then die back, they can be propagated from seed for continual supply. Hardy perennials.
