Description

The showy, funnel-shaped flowers of Alstroemeria 'Isabelle' are deep, rich pink with a subtle flash of speckled yellow, and in bloom for half the year (June to November). Though exotic-looking, alstroemeria is far hardier than it looks and will thrive easily in most UK gardens. Its fleshy rhizomes form clumps which tend to gradually increase in size each year, reliably producing masses of beautiful blooms and lush foliage. Alstoemeria is notable for its exceptionally long lifespan: we know of some lovely big clumps still flourishing having received little attention for decades. With their bold, bright colours and striking markings, alstroemerias fit beautifully into hot, tropical schemes or bustling cottage gardens. We often recommend them for weaving through a border as easy and undemanding 'fillers', to tie other planting together. Alstroemerias also make excellent container plants (particularly the shorter varieties such as this) and are highly prized by flower arrangers for their vase life of two to three weeks. For best results grow in full sun or partial shade in most, well-draining soil. Alstroemeria is also well-suited to growing in a container. H: 45cm S: 30cm. Hardy to -10 C.
