Allium stipitatum Moly

Allium Moly, is also known as the Golden Allium, and once you see the bright blooms almost seeming to glow, you will understand why. Many small, bright yellow blooms pack tightly to form loose spheres. Held on wiry stems above clumps of strap-shaped foliage, Allium Moly reaches a height of approximately 25cm, and is adored by our pollinating friends in spring and early summer. Excellent planted in bold drifts, where the drought tolerant bulbs will happily naturalise. Allium were once known for their medical, culinary, and aphrodisiac qualities, the foliage emits a slightly oniony fragrance when crushed. Nowadays alliums are a favourite in RHS Show Gardens and we think that no garden should be without at least one. Allium are both deer and rabbit resistant and look incredible when used as cut flowers, lasting well in a vase. Much loved by bees and butterflies, Allium Moly is drought tolerant and happy even in poor soils preferring well-drained soil in sun. A hardy bulbous perennial that can be left, undisturbed over winter to sprout again the following spring.
