Allium senescens Serendipity

An offspring of the popular 'Millennium' and sharing many of the same attributes, Allium senescens 'Serendipity' was selected and developed for its unique, heavily glaucous, blue foliage. Masses of rose-purple, flower spheres create a strong, bright block of colour and give a particularly striking effect when planted in generous groups or drifts. Short, densely packed, strap-shaped leaves cover the lower half of the plant (these can be sparse and untidy in other species) creating a neat and healthy-looking plant. Allium senescens 'Serendipity' is a compact, vigorous, clump-forming perennial which is perfect for adding reliable mid to late summer colour in a border or container display. Like all allium, the flowers of 'Serendipity' are extremely attractive to a wide range of pollinators and also make a great inclusion vases and bouquets. Seedheads make striking, architectural features when left into the winter months, or these can be dried for later displays. Allium senescens 'Serendipity' prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun. A hardy perennial with reaches 60cm in height, with a spread of 45cm.
