Description

Allium caeruleum is from the ornamental onion family. Also known as black garlic, it will help attract pollinators to the garden. Dazzling round mid-blue blooms formed from many smaller star-shaped flowers adorn tall stems. The foliage is at the base of the plant. This hardy perennial mixes well with others and can be grown in either containers or borders. It is ideal to plant in the middle of a border which will create an amazing focal point. This ornamental onion tolerates full sun and a broad range of well-drained soil types. It prefers to be sheltered from strong wind. Alliums are perfect for cut flower bouquets and last up to 2 weeks in a vase. Allium caeruleum will help attract pollinators to your garden. Plant the bulbs in September-November for perfect blooms in June or July. Ornamental onion clumps can also be split in the autumn to refresh another border.

WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
