Tell Me More...
A brilliantly versatile achillea with an ever-changing tapestry of colourful blooms from June to September. Masses of tiny blooms merge to create large, flattened flowerheads that will cut horizontally through your borders. Achillea millefolium 'Terracotta' creates a welcome contrast to the rounded or spiked flower shapes bringing variation in form and colour to your containers, rockeries and herbaceous borders. Blooms are also excellent as cut stems for the vase and can be used either fresh or dried.Nomenclature indicates that the plant is named after Achilles - who reputedly used a salve made from an achillea plant to heal his soldier's wounds after the siege of Troy. Historically the plant has been used for many complaints from nose bleeds to thrombosis. Plants are both rabbit and slug resistant and the nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for bees and butterflies Achillea millefolium 'Terracotta' is unfussy on soil providing conditions are well-drained and situated in sun or partial shade. An herbaceous, fully hardy perennial which will thrive outside for years to come with no winter protection required - reaches a height of 1.1m with a spread of 60cm.
