Jobs for May
Summer is soon approaching with longer, warmer days where we can start to sit out and enjoy our efforts in the garden – although work never stops! Now is the perfect time to introduce bedding plants alongside planting up baskets and containers.
Checklist
When all signs of frost have passed, plant tender blooms such as Dahlia.
Trim untidy and unkempt plants, especially spreading and trailing varieties.
Deadheaddaffodils, leaving the foliage in place to absorb energy for the bulbs in the following season.
Continue to implement stakes and supports to those plants that require them.
Pot up new baskets and containers, watering thoroughly once settled.
Remove weeds as you see them to keep flower beds and borders looking tidy.
