Where you have ordered a plant with the code beginning ‘BU’ or ‘CO’, you shall receive your chosen variety in the form of a Bulb or a Corm.
Bulbs and Corms come in various sizes - this is not directly relevant to the eventual size of the plant. You do not have to worry about planting immediately on arrival as they will store well in a cool, dry place for a couple of weeks.
Dig a hole that is both wide and deep enough for your bulbs – you should double or triple the height and spread of your bulb. If you wish to plant more than one bulb, space them at least twice the bulbs own width apart.
Place your bulbs in the planting hole with their shoot facing upward.
Replace the soil and gently firm into place – avoid treading on the surrounding soil.
Plant bulbs at triple their depth and one bulb width apart using three parts compost and one part grit.
Water bulbs thoroughly and regularly, reducing this as they start to enter the dormant season.
Apply a liquid tomato feed as soon as the shoots start to appear. You should stop applying feed when the foliage starts to die down.
