Weigela are best planted in a moist but well-drained soil of sand, chalk, clay or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun or part shade. Weigela are well suited to being planted in flower beds and border within an informal garden setting where they will tuck in nicely between companion plants.

Dig a hole that is the same depth but twice the width of the root ball, amending the soil with a generous amount of compost, combining thoroughly to the native soil. Spread the rotos and settle in place. Water well after planting to settle the soil into place.
Weigela will need to be pruned to neaten its overall shape and size. You should also remove old, damaged and dead wood to improve your shrubs vigour for the following year. Once established, Weigela will tolerate hard pruning. Fertilise once a year by applying a balanced plant food in winter as this will promote better spring blooms. Of rainfall has been limited, water during active growth on a weekly basis.
It is possible to propagate Weigela by softwood cuttings or semi-hardwood cuttings in early summer or hardwood cuttings in late autumn or winter.
