Watsonia are best planted in a well-drained soil of sand, chalk or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun or part shade. Watsonia are well suited to a tropical style garden or planted in containers.

Can be grown in a pot buried in the ground during the summer so it’s part of your border, then the pot can be lifted in autumn and kept undisturbed in a garage over winter.
Apply a mulch during winter for protection. Deadhead as required. May need staking to maintain a good upright habit in windy locations.
It is possible to propagate Watsonia by division or by seed sown in autumn.
