At the time of planting, amend the soil with a light dressing of well-rotted manure and compost, mixing in well and providing a thorough watering once in place.
In late winter or early spring, apply a general-purpose fertiliser to the base of your shrub and feed every fortnight with a tomato feed until the fruit starts to ripen. Although Vitis are relatively drought tolerant they will require regular watering throughout summer to prevent the roots from becoming too dry. Prune after the flowering periods where the shoots appear on the current year’s growth.
It is possible to propagate Vitis by hardwood cuttings.
