Verbena are best planted in a moist but well-drained soil of chalk, clay, sand or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun where they will get 8 hours of sunlight each day. If situated in a particularly hot climate, they will appreciate relief from intense midday sun. Verbena are well suited to flower beds and borders within courtyard, cottage and informal garden settings.

Amend the planting area with a generous amount of compost or organic matter along with some grit or sand if you have wet soil and mix thoroughly. Water well and deeply after planting to settle the soil into place.
Water regularly until your plants are well established when water should be applied when the soil is dry. Feed in spring using an all-purpose liquid fertiliser. A protective mulch consisting of leaf mould or compost should be applied in autumn. During this time, it is a good idea to pinch out the tips as this will encourage a bushier habit. Protect from winter damage.
It is possible to propagate Verbena by seed or by stem tip cuttings.
