Verbascum are best planted in a well-drained soil of chalk, loam or sand within an alkaline PH balance. Ensure they are not planted in an area that retains water as they will not tolerate waterlogged soil. They are best planted in an area of full sun. Verbascum are well suited to flower beds and borders within courtyard, informal and cottage garden settings where they will attract lots of bees.

Water newly planted Verbascum thoroughly and ensure they are kept moist until they are fully established.
Once fully mature, you may water Verbascum sparingly as these plants are relatively drought tolerant and will thrive in dry soil. Cut back taller stems in autumn if you do not wish your plants to self-propagate.
It is possible to propagate Verbascum by division in late spring or by root cuttings in winter.
