When planting your bulb, you should make sure it is partially visible above the soil, spacing bulbs around 60cm (24in) apart to allow room for your plants to spread. Water thoroughly and deeply to settle the bulbs into place and to encourage a healthy root system.
During summer, foliage will turn yellow and start to die back. Remove these leaves as it will neaten your plants overall appearance. Water well during active growth, keeping soil damp but not too moist. Once blooming has finished, trim off the flower stalk to encourage healthy new growth for the following season.
It is possible to propagate Urginea by seed sown as soon as they are ripe. This should be undertaken in a greenhouse or similar environment..
