Amend the planting area with a generous amount of organic matter to improve overall drainage of the soil. Dig a hole that will accommodate the height and width of the root, gently inserting the plant into place and water thoroughly.
Particularly tall varieties will need staking if positioned in an exposed area. Thalictrum are low maintenance plants once established. Lightly fertile and mulch your plants during the spring to help maintain moisture and suppress weeds. Water regularly particularly during periods of drought. During autumn, cut back to ground level to ensure healthy growth in the next season.
It is possible to propagate Thalictrum by seed or by division during the spring.
