Tellima are clump forming perennials with rounded foliage and spires of modest yet stunning bell-shaped blooms. Tellima are best suited in flower beds and borders or as underplanting for large shrubs or small trees, within a city, courtyard or cottage garden. You can expect to see Tellima grow to an approximate height of 50cm-1m (20-40”) and a spread of 10-50cm (4-20”).
Tellima are best planted in well-drained soil of loam or sand within an alkaline or neutral PH balance. Tellima thrive in a position of full sun, part shade or full shade and so are versatile in many areas of the garden. Make sure your plants are in a site that is sheltered from cold, drying winds.
Once established, Tellima are easy to care for. Apply a generous layer of mulch during the spring and autumn to retain moisture in the soil and to deter weeds. Keep the soil moist, especially during periods of drought. If Tellima becomes invasive you may wish to divide or prune your plants to retain control and tidiness.
It is possible to propagate Tellima by seed sown in containers once ripe. Alternatively, propagate by division during the spring.
