Strawberry plants are best plants in a well-drained soil of loam, sand or clay within a neutral, alkaline or acidic PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun. They are well-suited to being planted in both containers and the ground. Plant in a sheltered position, avoiding windy sites.

Strawberries can be planted both in the ground in rows or in containers. Amend the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting and dig a hole large enough for the roots. Be careful not to plant too shallow or too deep.
Water frequently whilst the plant is establishing and during dry periods in the growing season. During the growing season, apply a tomato feed every 1 to 2 weeks. As fruits begin to develop, tuck a straw/fibre mat underneath plants to keep them clean and suppress weeds. After the fruits have finished, remove the mat and cut off any old leaves if the plant is a summer-fruiting variety.
It is possible to propagate Strawberries by removing and transplanting runners.
