Sparganium are best planted in a moist, poorly drained soil of clay, loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun or part shade. They are well suited for growing in shallow water in ponds or streams.

Grow in moist, boggy soil or in shallow water up to 45cm (18in) deep. Suitable for planting in aquatic baskets.
Cut back old leaves and stems in spring.
It is possible to propagate Sparganium by seed sown at 15°C as soon as ripe, or by division in spring.
