Pleione are best planted in a well-drained, moderately fertile soil of loam or sand within an acidic or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in a sheltered area of partial shade. Pleione are well suited to rock gardens as well as pots and containers. Pleione can also be grown indoors in a cool spot.

Plant in mid-spring. You may wish to amend the planting area with compost and grit before planting to ensure the soil has good drainage.
When growth appears, water enough to moisten the soil but be careful not to overwater as this will rot the bulbs. Protect from severe weather and cold.
It is possible to propagate Pleione by division of pseudobulbs.
