Physalis Peruviana is best planted in a moist but well-drained soil or sand or loam within an acidic, alkaline, or neutral pH balance. It is best planted in a sheltered position that receives full sun. Physalis Peruviana is suited to being planted in containers in a kitchen, cottage, patio, or informal garden style.

Plant when there is no longer any risk of frost. Space companion plants around 60cm (24 in) apart from one another.
Water regularly throughout the growing season. Cut back to ground level after harvesting the fruits in late summer/early autumn.
It is possible to propagate Physalis by seed. Sow seed indoors in early spring and grow in a greenhouse or outside in mild areas once all risk of frost has passed.
