About Parahebe

Parahebe are small, evergreen or semi-evergreen sub-shrubs that produce an avalanche of crisp saucer-shaped white blooms each with a stunning green eye and fleck of bright pink on delicate arching stems. The leaves are small and leathery and are coarsely toothed providing further interest throughout the year. Parahebe are a fantastic addition to flower beds and borders or used as groundcover within a cottage or informal garden setting. Alternatively, they will make great container plants. You should expect to see Parahebe grow to an approximate height and spread of 40cm (16”).

How to plant Parahebe

Parahebe are best planted in well-drained soil of sand, chalk and loam within an alkaline or neutral PH balance. Water plants in their pots prior to planting out in the ground or transplanting to another container. Dig a hole that is twice the size of the pot and put a layer of compost into the base of the hole. Position your Parahebe so that the top of the root ball is level with the soil. Back fill with the native soil, applying a generous amount of compost and water. Parahebe are best positioned in an area of full sun as this is where it will thrive best.

How to care for Parahebe

Parahebe are low maintenance once they are fully established. They should be watered regularly until they are fully established, where you can then reduce the watering schedule. You should not need to prune Parahebe unless they become unruly and untidy or when they start to cause detriment to companion plants or if they start to obstruct public access sites.

How to propagate Parahebe

It is possible to propagate Parahebe by semi-ripe cuttings during summer.
