Water when the soil feels dry to the touch, being careful not to overwater as the roots may rot. Trim back growth once flowers have faded in summer to keep the plant compact and to avoid them becoming leggy. Cut back any dead stems to the base in winter and provide them with a winter mulch. Leaves taste their best before flowering.
