Nerine are best planted in a well-drained soil of chalk, clay, loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area that receives full sun. Nerines are well suited to flower beds and borders as well as pots and containers within courtyard, cottage and informal garden settings.

Spread your plants roots out before planting and submerge the bulbs halfway into the soil so the top is still visible. Water deeply and thoroughly once planted to help create a healthy root system.

Mulch your plants once they have finished blooming as this will provide winter protection whilst retaining moisture levels and suppressing weeds. Nerine are intolerant to disturbance so once they are planted out, avoid transplanting them if you can. They do not need pruning, although you may wish to cut off spent flower heads to neaten the plants overall appearance.
