Lobularia are annuals or perennial plants with an attractive low-spreading capability that displays simplistic leaves and clusters of colourful, honey fragrant blooms during the summer. Lobularia are best suited to flower beds and borders within courtyard, cottage and informal garden settings. They are equally as perfect for baskets, window boxes and containers. You should expect to see your plants grow to an approximate height of 30cm (12”) and a spread of 40cm (16”).
Lobularia are best planted in well-drained soil of loam and sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. Amend the planting area with a generous amount of organic matter and mix thoroughly with the native soil. Plant Lobularia into tight clusters to form a close-knit spreading habit and water well. Lobularia prefer a position of full sun or part shade.
Lobularia must be kept well-watered throughout active growth and during periods of sustained drought. Cut Lobularia back after the first flush of bloom to encourage further growth for the following season. Unless your soil is of poor quality, your plants should not require supplementary fertiliser or feed. **Container plants will require more water and a monthly feed. ** Lobularia will need protection from cold climates and adverse weather conditions so transplant them into an appropriate environment or cover in a protective layer.
