Leucanthemella are herbaceous perennial plants with stately upright stems, adorned by lance-shaped leaves and large, crisp daisy-like flower heads. These modest yet beautiful plants tend to flower throughout summer and autumn providing a cheery backdrop in your beds and borders. Leucanthemella are best suited to cottage, informal and wildflower gardens. Leucanthemella will also make beautiful cut flowers for the home. You should expect to see your plants grow to an approximate height of 1.8m (6’) and spread of 90cm (36”).
Leucanthemella are best planted in well-drained soil of clay, loam, chalk and sand within an acidic, alkaline and neutral PH balance. It is recommended that you supplement the soil with a generous amount of organic matter in the form of well-rotted manure, garden compost or leaf litter, mixing thoroughly to the native soil. Leucanthemella are best positioned in areas of full sun, but will also tolerate part shade provided the soil is not waterlogged.
You should water Leucanthemella thoroughly during periods of drought, and ensure that the soil is kept evenly moist throughout the season. You may wish to apply a general fertiliser from spring until the end of summer to promote healthy growth. Deadhead Leucanthemella regularly to prolong the flowering period as they will clump rapidly. Cut the flowered stems back to ground level during the autumn to ensure further and healthy growth for the following season.
