Ipheion are best planted in a moist but well-drained, fertile soil of sand, loam, chalk or clay within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area that receives in full sun. Ipheion are well suited to planting in containers, borders, beds and beneath trees. They can also be naturalised on a lawn.

Amend the soil with compost before planting. Plant your bulbs around 5cm (2in) deep and 7cm (3in) apart from one another with the pointed side facing upwards. Fill in with soil, pressing down gently.
If temperatures drop below -10°C, provide a protective winter mulch. Divide in summer once established which should be done after the foliage has died down.
It is possible to propagate Ipheion by seed sown in containers in a cold frame as soon as ripe or in spring. Can also be propagated by division in summer when dormant.
