Habenaria are best planted in a moist but well-drained, loam-based soil within an acidic PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of sun or light, dappled shade. Habenaria are well suited to tropical style gardens, in flower beds and borders as well as pots and containers.

Plant using a terrestrial orchid compost. You may wish to plant in containers so that these can then be brought inside when dormant as these plants are not fully hardy. Water well after planting.
Water well during the growing period and keep the soil moist, being careful not to waterlog the soil as this will result in the tubers rotting. This watering schedule can then be reduced in winter.
It is possible to propagate Habenaria by division once the foliage has dies down or by seed.
