About Gaillardia

Gaillardia are annuals, biennials or perennials with gorgeous daisy-like flowers that flourish in vibrant shades or red, yellow and orange. They perch above stately, slender stems and simple waxy leaves. Gaillardia are best suited to flower beds and borders in city, informal and courtyard gardens. You can expect to see your Gaillardia grow to an approximate height and spread of 50cm (20).

How to plant Gaillardia

Gaillardia are best planted in well-drained soil of sand, chalk or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. Choose a site that receives full sun. Amend the planting area by loosening the soil and mixing a generous amount of compost. Dig a hole that is twice the diameter of the root ball so that it is level with the soil surface. Once settled in place, firm the soil and water thoroughly.

How to care for Gaillardia

Gaillardias are low maintenance plants once established. Water Gaillardia well during periods of dry conditions and apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring when new growth appears. There is no need to deadhead plants, but you may wish to remove spent flower heads to neaten your plants overall appearance.
