Festuca are best planted in a well-drained soil of sand, loam and chalk within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area that receives full sun. Festuca are well suited to flower beds and borders within courtyard, cottage and informal garden settings. They also make a great statement feature within pots and containers.

Ensure the planting hole is dug deep enough and wide enough to accommodate the size of your grass whilst leaving sufficient space between companion plants.
Festuca do not require a regular feeding schedule. Fertilisation will create a profusion of lush foliage, but it may cause detriment to the flowers. An application of balanced fertiliser in spring should prove adequate. In winter, comb the plants with your fingers to remove dead foliage. Water well until the plants are fully established so that the soil is moist to the touch.
