About Eccremocarpus

Eccremocarpus are deciduous or evergreen climbing perennial plants with attractive dark green leaves and striking clusters of bright tubular flowers that flourish during spring, summer and autumn. Eccremocarpus are best suited to wall side borders in city and courtyard gardens. You can expect to see your Eccremocarpus grow to an approximate height of 3-4 metres (10-13) and a spread of 1 metre (3).

How to plant Eccremocarpus

Eccremocarpus are best planted in well-drained soil of sand or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. Choose a site that receives full sun. They are generally seen as an excellent conservatory or greenhouse specimen and will grow happily in a container. Eccremocarpus will require some form of support structure on which to grow.

How to care for Eccremocarpus

Eccremocarpus perform better in rich soil and will require a top dressing of compost in early spring. During hot weather, Eccremocarpus will need to be kept well-watered. Use a slow release granular fertiliser every 3 to 4 months. Prune your plants during the first spring after planting, cut back all new growth to 15cm as this will encourage new shoots from the base.

How to propagate Eccremocarpus

It is possible to propagate Eccremocarpus by seed during spring.
