Darmera are best suited to flower beds and borders within a cottage or informal garden setting. You should expect to see Darmera grow to an approximate height of 1.5 metres (5’) and a spread of 1 metre (3’).
Darmera are best planted in poorly-drained soil of loam or clay within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. Darmera will flourish in pond margins and bog gardens, where it forms an imposing umbrella-like clump. Choose a site that receives full sun or part shade for best performance.
Darmera are low maintenance plants once fully established. Ensure the soil is kept moist, especially during periods of dry weather. Remove spent flowers and stems during the autumn to retain a neat and tidy appearance.
It is possible to propagate Darmera by seed during spring ore autumn or by division during the spring.
