How to grow Cerinthe

Where to plant Cerinthe

 

Linaria are best planted in well-drained soil of loam, chalk and sand within a neutral, acidic or alkaline PH balance. They are best positioned in a sheltered area that has access to full sunlight. Cerinthe are particularly attractive when planted din flower beds and borders within cottage and informal garden settings and create a great feature piece within pots and containers.

How to plant Cerinthe

 

Make sure that all signs of frost have passed before planting Cerinthe outdoors, digging a hole that is as deep as the roots ball, allowing sufficient space between companion plants. Back fill the soil and water thoroughly and deeply to settle the soil in place.




 

 

How to care for Cerinthe

 

Cerinthe need to e watered regularly until they are fully established during periods of drought. You may wish to deadhead faded flowers to prevent invasiveness. Trim back unkempt and untidy stems and foliage to encourage a more compact plant. Stake tall varieties to maintain a pleasing shape.




 

How to propagate Cerinthe

 

It is possible to propagate Cerinthe by seed sown in light hear during spring which can then be planted out when the risk of frost has passed.
