About Cenolophium

Cenolophium are deciduous perennials, showing an abundance of frothy greenish-white bloom clusters and fine triangular leaves during summer and autumn. These stunning flowers are elegantly perched upon long stems and attractive fern like foliage. They have become fashionable as cut flowers in arrangements and borders as they create a light and airy feel to your garden. They can grow to a height of around 1m (40”) and a spread of 75cm (30”).

How to plant Cenolophium

Cenolophium prefer moist, well-drained soil of clay, chalk, loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline and neutral PH balance. There is a Cenolophium for most areas where some will thrive in woodland shade and others are best in full sun.

How to care for Cenolophium

Cenolophium are relatively low maintenance and require very little care as they establish. During the autumn, you may wish to apply a thick layer of mulch around the base of your plant to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Cut off the flower heads before they have an opportunity to set seed, if you do not require any more plants to root for the spring.

How to propagate Cenolophium

It is possible to propagate Cenolophium by seed sown in a cold frame during the autumn or spring time. Alternatively you can propagate your plant by root cuttings in the mid winter.
