Cedrela Flamingo is a deciduous tree displaying colourful bright pink-salmon foliage that gradually colour changes into a creamy yellow and rich green shade during summer. During the middle of summer, fragrant white blooms flourish, followed by fruits which are set in compact winged casings. Cedrela is highly aromatic and attracts a variety of insects. They are best suited to wall-side borders within courtyard, cottage or informal garden settings. You should expect to see Cedrela grow to an approximate height and spread of 10 metres (32’).
Cedrela is best planted in a position of full sun, in well-drained soil of sand, chalk or loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. Choose an appropriate site that will accommodate Cedrela at its mature size. They are best positioned in an area of full sun. To prepare your soil for planting, loosen the area with a fork and mix in a generous amount of compost and organic matter. Position your plant into the hole you’ve created and make sure that the ball of the root is level with the soil surface. Water thoroughly once planted.
After the flowering period in late spring or early summer, lightly cut back any branches to retain a healthy and pleasant shape. Apply a thick and generous layer of mulch to encourage healthy growth and develop. Water Cedrela thoroughly throughout active growth and during periods of drought.
It is possible to propagate Cedrela by root cuttings during late winter.
