Caladium are best planted in a moist but well-drained soil of loam or sand within an acidic or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of partial shade. Caladium are well suited to being planted in containers here in the UK so that they can easily be brought indoors for the winter.

Plant around 10-15cm (4-6in) deep and around the same distance apart from one another.
Water regularly, particularly during periods of drought. You may wish to apply a mulch around the plants to help retain moisture. As these are tender plants, they will need to be dug up in autumn and stored indoors over winter as they will not survive cold temperatures, or if you’re growing in containers then the containers can be brought indoors.
It is possible to propagate Caladium by dividing the tubers in spring.
