Bacopa

Where to plant Bacopa

 

Bacopa are best planted in a fertile, well-drained soil of chalk, clay, loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun or part shade. Bacopa are well suited to being grown in containers or hanging baskets.

How to plant Bacopa

 

Dig a hole that is at least 15cm (6in) deep and the same width as the root ball. Space companion plants 40cm (16in) apart and amend with a generous amount of peat moss to the planting area, mixing thoroughly to keep the ground moist. Water thoroughly and deeply to settle the soil into place.

It is important to retain moisture levels throughout active growth. You may wish to apply a layer of mulch to keep your plant cool and moist. Move into a frost-free environment or keep them appropriately protected during cold periods.

It is possible to propagate Bacopa by layering in autumn or spring. Choose flexible young shoots that can be bent down at ground level.
