About Astilboides

Astilboides are herbaceous perennial plants with impressively large and rounded leaves followed by dense panicles of small cream flowers that are held on erect stalks above the foliage in early summer. Astilboides are best suited to flower beds and borders within a cottage or informal garden setting. You should expect to see your plants grow to an approximate height and spread of 1.5 metres (5).

How to plant Astilboides

Astilboides are best planted in moist soil of loam or sand within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance in a shady area as these plants do not tolerate copious hours of sunlight as the foliage becomes scorched.

How to care for Astilboides

Astilboides are relatively low maintenance when mature. Ensure the soil is kept consistently moist and well- watered. This plant will also appreciate an annual spring mulch of well-rotted compost.

How to propagate Astilboides

It is possible to propagate Astilboides by seed sown during autumn or by division during the spring.
