Astilboides are best planted in a moist soil of loam or sand within an acidic or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in shade as they will not tolerate hours in the sunlight as the foliage will become scorched. Astilboides are well suited to flower beds and borders within a cottage or informal garden setting and work well in woodland gardens too.

Water deeply and thoroughly after planting.
Ensure the soil is kept consistently moist and well-watered. Astilboides will also appreciate an annual spring mulch of well-rotted compost. Cut back after flowering.
It is possible to propagate Astilboides by seed sown in autumn or by division in the spring.
