Asclepias are best planted in a well-drained soil of sand, clay and loam within an acidic or alkaline PH balance. They are best positioned in an area that receives full sun as this is where they will thrive best. Asclepias are well suited to planting in flower beds and borders as well as wildflower meadows.

Space plants approximately 60cm (2ft) apart. Dig a hole as deep as the root, covering it over and watering thoroughly to settle the soil in place.
Asclepias require very little care and maintenance and will not need fertilising. They can be difficult to contain as they like to spread out to it may be necessary to remove the seed pods of spent flowers before they disperse.
It is possible to propagate Asclepias by seed, division or root cuttings.
