About Arenaria

Arenaria are annuals, herbaceous or evergreen perennials with slender leaves atop dark stems. Gorgeous five-petalled white flowers with a pale lime green-yellow centre adorn the gorgeous foliage during the summer. They are best suited to embellish crevices in walls and structures within low maintenance, cottage and informal gardens. You should expect Arenaria to grow to an approximate height of 10cm (4”) and a spread of 50cm (20”).

How to plant Arenaria

Arenaria are best planted in well-drained soil of sand, chalk and loam within an acidic, alkaline and neutral PH balance. Ensure that your soil has excellent drainage particularly during the winter months. You may wish to amend the planting area with plenty of organic matter, mixing thoroughly to improve the overall drainage. Arenaria are best positioned in an area that receives full sun.

How to care for Arenaria

Arenaria are low maintenance plants, requiring a regular watering during periods of hot, dry weather. It may also be necessary to provide a light feed if you feel this is appropriate.

How to propagate Arenaria

It is possible to propagate Arenaria by seed, division or basal cuttings.
