About Aeonium

Aeonium are shrubby, evergreen succulents with dark, fleshy leaves, creating architectural dark rosettes upon branching stems along with star-shaped blooms and numerous narrow petals during spring. They are best suited to small pots and containers in a cool, airy environment such as a conservatory or a greenhouse. You should expect to see Aeonium grow to an approximate height of 60-90cm (24-36”) and a spread 30cm (12”).

How to plant Aeonium

Aeonium are best planted in pots and containers within cacti compost. You should amend the compost with additional grit or gravel to improve drainage. You may wish to transplant your succulent to a larger container if they become pot bound. Position Aeonium in a sunny position all year round where they will absorb plenty of light and heat. Central heating is not an issue so long as you provide sufficient water to prevent them from drying out. After planting, water thoroughly and deeply.

How to care for Aeonium

Water Aeonium freely throughout active growth, although you should allow the soil to dry out between applications. This is also relevant during summer, autumn and winter. Pruning is not necessary. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser two or three times during active growth.

How to propagate Aeonium

It is possible to propagate Aeonium by seed during spring or by cuttings of rosettes.
