Actinidia are best planted in a well-drained soil of loam, sand or clay within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in a warm sheltered area in full sun as this will create beautifully scented and coloured blooms. Actinidia are well suited to climbing up walls and trees.

Plant Actinidia along wall side borders to utilise the best possible features of your stunning climber plant.
In spring, remove any entwined, disease or crowded stems to keep your plant looking its best. During the dry days of summer, Actinidia will require regular watering, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. As the plant grows, you may need to supply a support or stake to train your climber into a desirable position.
It is possible to propagate Actinidia by seed in spring or autumn, or by semi-ripe cuttings in mid-summer. Alternatively, you can propagate by layering in winter.
