Where to plant Acacia


Acacia are best planted in a well-drained soil of sand or loam within an acidic or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in a sheltered area that receives full sun. Acacia are well suited to growing in a conservatory, cool greenhouse or in pots where the plant can be brought inside when the weather is colder, as they are tender.

Plant in a well-draining soil, preferably in a light soil such as sand or loam and avoid heavy soils like clay.

How to care for Acacia


Water sparingly in winter. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly during the growing season. RHS Pruning Group 8- Prune straight after flowering by removing unsightly shoots as well as any dead, damaged or diseased growth and deadheading. If some shaping is required, do this by lightly cutting back shoots after flowering. Acacias do not like being pruned hard.
